We had the best day with Barney-thank you so very much. While disappointing that the weather was not conducive for climbing Scafell, Barney came up with great alternatives, and hiking around Derwent Water and Cat Bells was just perfect.We got absolutely soaked but laughed a lot and had such a good time. My daughter and I had the best day climbing Scafell Pike with guide, Leon, who was amazing, great support with such enormous knowledge of the mountains. He also gave us many tips for future challenges. The scenery/views on the hike and at the summit were spectacular. Our RAW Adventures Mountain Leader Barney expertly led a fantastic day hike to the summit of Scafell Pike via the Corridor Route through the full range of weather that UK can serve up in September: high winds, cloud cover, heavy rain showers and biting hailstones at the peak! Interspersed with some fabulous moments when the cloud and rain broke. Throughout it all, Barney kept the group together, safe, and in good spirits.His intuition from years of experience always seemed to keep us one step ahead of the conditions.. wrapping up in the right places, stops at the right times, good communication with the group, and keeping the momentum. We had such a fun day climbing Scafell Pike with RAW Adventures. We would not have been able to complete it without our guide, Rich. It was difficult to navigate the route due to the weather, but because we had Rich we could enjoy the experience without worrying about getting lost. We all agreed it was worth every penny.
