Whether you’re stepping onto frozen terrain for the first time or aiming to progress into more advanced mountaineering, our small-group sessions offer hands-on learning in some of Britain’s most dramatic winter landscapes.

Each programme is led by qualified Winter Mountain Leaders, blending clear instruction with practical experience. With typically 4–6 participants per group, you’ll enjoy plenty of personal guidance and the freedom to progress at your own pace.

Ideal for beginners, this two-day experience covers the core techniques required to move efficiently and safely on winter ground. Where do the courses take place?

All sessions are based in the Cairngorms, starting each day in Aviemore - Scotland’s vibrant hub for winter mountain adventures.

Is accommodation included?

Accommodation isn’t part of the package, but we’ll share a list of recommended local stays once you’ve booked.

Do I need specialist gear?

Yes, but don’t worry - we’ll send a full kit list when you sign up. If you’re missing items, we can help organise rentals at a small extra cost.

Are beginners welcome?

Definitely. Our Introduction to Winter Mountain Skills course is built for newcomers with no prior snow or ice experience.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. For bookings over £200, we offer payment plans unless your start date is within two months.
